Artist statement: The image Suffocation is one of a collection of photos representing the ugly, smothering impact upon the environment of plastic bags. The process I used to take the photo was quite simple; however, I decided to line up the sun directly behind the plastic bag to impact the composition and present the bag as the first thing you see. I edited the image by adding a black and white filter to create depth and atmosphere. There is too much plastic bag pollution in our backyards, swimming all over the oceans and floating down highways. It needs to be stopped and it has been left to my generation to put an end to it.
