Artist statement: I’m your man” – This artwork is based on Perth artist Abdul Abdullah’s “Rogue” series. The”Rogue” series created portraits of famous and infamous figures from history, using the blue on black style I have used here. I have created a self-portrait in this style. My”rogue” is looking out at the audience, challenging the audience, but in a daring, carnivalesque and mischievous way. I wanted to express the beauty and excitement of the trickster. I wanted my character to keep his eyes on you, inviting you to be led… or misled.
