Artist statement: Inspired by the multi-cultural landscape of modern Australia this work is an exploration of the ability to work together to build a great country while embracing and respecting our differences. The two hands represent the numerous nationalities that make up Australia (one hand represents the traditional owners of the land the Indigenous Australians and the other hand all the nations of the world who have come to call Australia home). The two hands are working together the rebuild the head/land which has become broken. The work is a reminder that in times of instability when the differences between people become the focus it is possible and important to come together and work together to build something strong and beautiful.
