Artist statement: There are approximately 200 million children who have been left orphaned in current war torn countries across the globe. They survive as best they can, but the despair and loss they feel must be overwhelming. My drawing of a solitary child hiding his face from what surrounds him attempts to convey the exhaustion and grief of survival.
