Artist statement: Focusing on the instability of one’s self, my piece depicts a girl in a deep state of drowsiness – known as the state of ‘Somnolence”. I have used mellow greys for her figure to symbolise that she is not content with herself, however, the leaves sprouting from her body symbolises her growth and how she may eventually come to accept herself. I feel as if my piece is representative of many teenagers of today’society as we are all trying to find ourselves and grow to become better people.
