Artist statement: Satin, mesh and organza with free-hand machine embroidery have been used to create this garment that represents the bush fires that sadly, often glow during our hot summers. Fire has been used to burn and distort the fabrics and these have been layered to show the changing heat intensity of the bush fire and the destruction that it causes as it moves across land forms. Layers of red, orange, yellow, gold and black back lit with lights add the glow of fire while the scorched branches represent the devastation of animal habitats.
