Reaching Out – a Helping Hand

Year 10
School: John Curtin College of the Arts
Medium: Recycled copper

Artist statement: This miniature work explores the sculptural and gestural form of the hands through a lost-wax casting process. I found myself grappling with newness and uncertainty when I changed schools. Asking for help feels hard while the surreal state of the pandemic plays out across the world. ‘Reaching out – a helping hand’ was my response to our theme: ‘transformation’ and is a gesture of seeking connection during these uncertain times.
